Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for coordinating delivery of information to our internal customer base (Actuarial, Finance, Compliance, etc.) in conjunction with Team Apex
  • Assist in the development and execution of initiatives in support of the Group Benefits Business Intelligence team’s strategic objectives
  • Provide leadership, oversight, and subject matter expertise on source data systems continuing the expansion of the team’s unique value proposition
  • Day to day management of the data delivery team (both offshore as well as matrixed team contributors), proactively managing the end-to-end data delivery and execution of a small team
  • Ownership of our internal reporting environment
  • Content management
  • Identification and implementation of process improvements allowing to for the most effective delivery of data.
  • consolidated inventory of reporting, requests, and fulfillment
  • Continuous rationalization of the reporting environment
  • Design and build self-service capabilities, reports, and quality assurance processes with a variety of business intelligence technologies (e.g., Tableau, Tableau Prep, Excel).
  • Act as consultant to various business functions (Actuarial, Underwriting, Product, Compliance, Reinsurance, and others) to deliver impactful, actionable insights.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in business requirements or data analysis supporting the insurance industry and data warehouse or reporting/analytic projects
  • Desired educational experience includes, but is not limited to: Finance, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, and Business Management
  • Strategic thinking skills.  Ability to provide options and assess solutions
  • Demonstrated critical reasoning with ability to solve complex business problems through resourcefulness
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to clearly give and receive information, requirements, and specifications (facts, ideas, perspectives) through verbal, written, and presentation communication methods
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment – driving business outcomes in a Kanban environment
  • Strongly preferred software skills include Tableau, SQL, Business Objects, and Excel
  • Prior data analysis/delivery experience with successful enablement of data delivery initiatives on Oracle and/or Snowflake platforms and willingness to adapt to future technologies
  • Understanding of current and emerging IT products, services, processes, and methodologies

Compensation:

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is: $83,040 – $124,560
